Teachers know if you have done the E-reading
Teachers always know! Teachers always know everything just like mothers seem to always know everything!! However with this CourseSmart textbook teachers will literally know if you have read the material. Mr. Guardia has came up with a few problems using this such as the book not reporting how many times it really was opened (or else the student lied which could also be a very probable answer!) However in Mr. Guardia's class the students are still not being very engaged in the book, test scores where a little higher though. So it brings up the question is the text or class to easy?!
I think that this would be pretty neat to have in my future classroom, but I think it would work best with younger children. Because my first idea when I heard of this was with middle or high school students was that they would open the book and then leave it. To look like it was being read. I do not think that that would come across a younger students mind, but then again you never know with either. It would also however bring up the topic of if it shows the student is not opening the text and getting good grades on the test, is the student cheating or are they indeed just really smart?! There is good and bad with everything so I guess I would probably just try it out for a year and see how well it works and go from there.
I would ask the teacher if it was actually useful or if it was to much effort for just making sure they are reading?! Also if he thought that it is better for a certain type of class or age?!
I would ask a student if it motivates them to want to actually do the read? If they wished they did not know the teacher could find out? And If they feel like their trust is being tested and how they feel about that?!
If I would leave a comment i would probably just leave what my post said up ^ there!
