Final PLN
Well, well, well at first I must say I was totally taken back by all this stuff. Having to use twitter, blogger, youtube, and google drive, because to be honest I hadn't used any and never really planned to!
Now I must say I can see where all of these things would help me as a teacher and help me with my personal learning, BUT I still think it can all be done without these things and that I will probably do it without! I believe in face-to-face contact however if it is 100% necessary to be face-to-face with someone that I can no get to, such as someone in another country, I would then probably use Skype, but then again when is that going to be necessary?! Besides that I would go to the other teachers in the school or district for questions or concerns I have about teaching, or any of my family that are teachers and get there inputs. Or my old grade school, middle and high school teachers for advise.
I can see where some of these social networks could help someone and better them but I do not plan to use much to any.

Teachers know if you have done the E-reading
Teachers always know! Teachers always know everything just like mothers seem to always know everything!! However with this CourseSmart textbook teachers will literally know if you have read the material. Mr. Guardia has came up with a few problems using this such as the book not reporting how many times it really was opened (or else the student lied which could also be a very probable answer!) However in Mr. Guardia's class the students are still not being very engaged in the book, test scores where a little higher though. So it brings up the question is the text or class to easy?!
I think that this would be pretty neat to have in my future classroom, but I think it would work best with younger children. Because my first idea when I heard of this was with middle or high school students was that they would open the book and then leave it. To look like it was being read. I do not think that that would come across a younger students mind, but then again you never know with either. It would also however bring up the topic of if it shows the student is not opening the text and getting good grades on the test, is the student cheating or are they indeed just really smart?! There is good and bad with everything so I guess I would probably just try it out for a year and see how well it works and go from there.
I would ask the teacher if it was actually useful or if it was to much effort for just making sure they are reading?! Also if he thought that it is better for a certain type of class or age?!
I would ask a student if it motivates them to want to actually do the read? If they wished they did not know the teacher could find out? And If they feel like their trust is being tested and how they feel about that?!
If I would leave a comment i would probably just leave what my post said up ^ there!

On April 2nd 2013 Philip wrote about his experience at a Holocaust presentation. It was a man that actually survived the Holocaust that talked to them and Philip said that it was a great lesson on not taking things for granted! I told him that I thought it would be really cool to actually talk to someone that survive the Holocaust, way better than reading about it in a book!
Annie S
On March 25th Annie wrote about her homestate Nebraska! I learned some interesting facts about Nebraska such as; the state tree is the Cottonwood, the bird is the meadowlark and the state dance is the square dance that I definitely did not know! She talked about the cold weather and snowstorms they had and even though Alabama does not really have either of those I could relate to her because I am originally from Kansas. She also said she is in tornado ally which yes I was apart of when I was in Kansas as well! She asked for us to share where we are and why we like it so I told her Alabama and the reason I love it is because we are so close to the gulf!
Heather
On April 17th Heather wrote about her holidays that she just recently had. She had gone tot he zoo on Easter and she says that the Zebras are her favorite, I must say I agree! She also went to her Granny's to have an Easter egg hunt. I had told her about hiding eggs for my friends two little boys and how much fun it was.

Silvia Tolisano
On April 3rd Mrs. Tolisano posted pictures from her home town in Buenos Aires. They were absolutely beautiful pictures! But then just a short time ago her mothers home got flooded! It was so sad seeing the town flooded and knowing that, that was Mrs. Tolisano's hometown. She was just there and showed all the beautiful pictures of it and now everything is ruined! It was heartbreaking but she was able to raise just over $800 to send to her mother and some neighbors to help rebuild and buy some of the necessities that were lost!
On April 20th Mrs. Tolisano wrote about a book she had came across. "Connected form the start: Global learning in Primary Grades" By; Kathy Cassidy. I think the book sounds great. Mrs. Cassidy expresses in the first chapter about "having been there herself" it gives the reader a little ease when they begin to think "How am I going to have the time?" Mrs. Tolisano says. Mrs. Tolisano has the great idea that every new teacher or someone in the education field should read this book! Given what she has said about the book I think it is a great idea and I actually want to go read it my self now after reading her blog! : )

Paul Anderson,
In Mr. Anderson's class he does a blended learning cycle. A blended course is where you do not meet as often as a normal class so therefor more of your work is done and turned in online. How Mr. Anderson does this is by simply asking them a question and then the students will search and investigate it! Then Mr. Anderson makes a video to help the students remember the lecture and to review since they can watch the video as many times as they need. Elaboration is his next step of the cycle, he has the students read certain things about the topic question. Next is review. Mr. Anderson makes sure that each student full understands the concept and once they do then they will be allowed to move onto the next step. The last and final step to his cycle is summary, he gives them a quiz over the summary of the topic. After he does a couple of these cycles he puts them together for a test. I think that Mr. Anderson has a pretty good thing going here with his blended cycle and even though I seem to have a problem with blended courses I think that Mr. Anderson makes it easier and very helpful learning.

Blog Post 12 due 4/4
1. Watch Technology in the future (6:01) and right a 1-2 paragraph reflecting on what you learned from this video and how it would change your life if you used this product.
2. Search Youtube for another interest story about technology in the future.
3. Write a 1-2 paragraph explaining the item and how it would help us in the future. Also say if it could be used in the classroom, what age and how would it help their learning.
Blog Post 12
After watching the video about the intel technology in the future I soon realize how lazy we are becoming! Everybody is so worried about making the next big thing but it is always to "make our lives easier." I think it is just making us lazy! I do think it is cool that he can talk to his TV to send an email so it is indeed easier to multitask. Like he is doing by sending an email while he is taking off his shoes and getting ready for his meeting. However I also believe that it is making "us" always in a rush and we do not always see what is going on around us! People say that they are so connected through all these devices but how connected are you really if your always staring at a phone or computer?!
I watch a video by Aaron Sam's about when he "Flipped his Classroom." I think we need way more teachers out there like Mr. Sam's. He makes his students go home and learn the work and then when they are in class they apply what they learned and show him the product. (This is a chemistry class) However this type of teaching can be done in any and should be done in all classrooms I think. Mr. Sam's does not make the class room about him and him telling the students "what to learn, how to learn, it and how to learn it for a test" He lets them to the learning however they want and then the "homework" that they do is actually the activities they do in the classroom!

Blog Post #11
Ms. Cassidy
Cassidy's video is about how the first graders use technology and teaching them about blogging. They also talk about when they use smartboards to for more hands on and interactive learning. The students talk about how writing on the blog makes them write better and better each time. The students also use Skpye to talk to other students when they do not understand something. I think using Skype in this way is really good because if they have a question on something it can't always be explained clearly through a blog or text so being virtually face-to-face will help the student more I think. I think however this is why we have teachers, and they could ask their classmates, but I suppose if you are trying to teach the children about technology at the same time this would be a good way of doing it.
I would probably use skype in my classroom, but not at a kindergartner level I think they do not need to be sitting in front of a computer all day! I think at middle school or high school I would try to assign a project to where they interview someone via skype! Maybe a distant relative or a teacher/ mentor that is not near by. I am not sure though how blogging is helping first graders with their writing, maybe with their spelling because it has spell check but it is actually making writing worse theses day I think because they are never ACTUALLY WRITING!!

On February 25th Anna Kate wrote about her experience at "Lovelady Center." I'm not sure what this place is but she explained that her and her friends went her and gave some children some toys. She felt very good after doing the good deed and she said it even made her happy to see these kids happy and she is only in 2nd grade herself.
I feel the same way that Anna Kate does when helping someone. "It does the heart good" I told her. I hope there are more people out there like little Miss Anna Kate because we all need them.

Steven Anderson
On March 18th 2013 Mr. Anderson wrote a very good blog about how to get teachers connected. I mentioned Mr. Strange and what he is trying to teach us (future teachers) now in EDM 310 to help us when we are teachers. I think that is kind of what Mr. Anderson wants to do. He says how he goes to ASCD conference every year where they teacher everybody about all these different programs that could be used in the classroom or ways to connect with other teachers all over the world. At this conference however he says that usually the people only take information from the person they are sitting next to, not really learning, or being taught how to use these new programs. A girl that posted on his blog Angela Watson had a good idea of having a session proposal at this ASCD conference to teach and help set up these different programs for teachers. Such as twitter and blogger, ect. They all had good ideas so maybe one of these days they will have it all put together to where they can have a teacher conference to get connected all over the world. Just as Mr. Strange is trying to show us now.
On March 25, 2013 Mr. Anderson wrote about his new program that he is doing with some of his students. He calls it Classroom Champions. It is where you have an Athlete Ambassadors who are Olympians and Paralympians who are training at locations from around the world but give their time to helps and mentor kids in these classrooms. The athletes are there every step of the way to help the students with making videos, writing letters, integrating technology. I think it is a pretty cool program and would be a lot of fun and help motivate the students having an Olympian there to help!

Emma
Emma is in Mrs. Seyfert's class and on March 20th 2013 Emma
wrote a blog about "Character to self." Emma compared herself to
Herminoe from Harry Potter. She says that they are alike in the way that they
both like to learn new things and do not let people stop them even if people
may make fun of them. She wishes and thinks that she and Herminoe would be
friends in really life, as I would wish that too. Herminoe was always my
favorite from Harry Potter.
Joe B
Joe B I believe is a middle school-er. On March 22nd 2013 He
wrote about our second amendment and gun control. You can tell that he is
pretty passionate about it and the fact that he wants to keep our second
amendment. Some of the points he makes of why we need to keep it are for self-defense;
just as the amendment says "A well-regulated militia being necessary to
the security of a free state" He says that if we get attacked by terrorist
we need to be able to defend ourselves. Another reason he says is because of
unemployment. If they were to take away the guns then gun business would go out
and unemployment would rise. He then states that we should not blame guns but
blame the killers and should have better back ground checks for someone trying
to get a gun.
-I agree with Joe and I asked him as I will ask you. What do
you do if someone already owns a gun and then either becomes a criminal or has
a mental illness?! Do you try to take it away being the government, and how
would they know and be able to fin every single one anyways?! What I told him
was I do not think that the government is going to be able to change the
outcome of what guns+crazy people do. They can maybe try to make it harder for
someone to buy but since when have criminals followed rules?!
