I'm a papermate, and I'm a Ticonderoga I think is expressing how the more money you spend on something usually means you are getting a better quality. They are referring to buying Mac's over PC's. Yes MAC's are more expensive and that is maybe why students think that they are a better deal because they "last longer." I have a PC and it has been going strong for 4 years when many of my friends have had MAC's and hate them for some reason or they quit on them. It's a judgment call up to any and every person that is going to be buying a computer, but I do agree that most of the time when you buy the more expensive item it usually pays off.

John Spence

John Spence is a teacher that actually likes to make the kids have fun while learning. Which I think is key when teaching young children. It is hard for younger students to sit there for more than 10 minutes without moving let alone catch what the teacher is saying so I think that Mr. Spence is doing a great thing buy involving games in his teaching! I would do the same thing, however his principle does not tolerate it! I also like that Mr. Spence stands up for himself and his teaching style because he basically acts like it is going to be another game to keep teaching the children they way he does without the principle finding out!
I also read Mr. Spence's blog Capturing Reality! I thought it was great because it does always seem that everyone these days are so worried about capturing the moment rather than being in the moment. I have to agree that I am the same way but that is because my memory is not very good and I like to be able to reminisce about my past years down the road.

Scott McLeod

I liked Mr. McLeod's post and I do agree with him just not 100%. I think that internet, and everything should be monitored, definitely at school but I do think however that the students should be exposed to it. I think that when you try to protect someone to much is when the rebel and try to find the bad. If you show your child/student everything is out there and build a trust with them you will not have a problem with have to block them from cites or any of those sorts of things.

Mrs. McClung

On May 27th 2009 Mr. McClung talks about what he learned his first year of teaching. He first taught in Noel Missiouri. I think that he had a lot of great pointers and things that he learned his first year. I'm sure his first year out on his own (teaching wise) not following anybody and doing all the work 100% on his own was difficult. But I think that is is very good that Mr. McClung is able to point out the things that maybe didn't go 100% as he wished or he found a new outlook on some aspect of teaching. Teaching will always be lessons learned to the teacher as well.

The things that Mr. McClung learned his first year of teaching was:

How to read a crowd
-You have to know your audience to know what and how to teach the material.
Be Flexible
-This is one thing that I have already preached about in many other classes. Mainly on a technology level, because many times before I have had teachers cancel class because the internet was down and they did not have a "Plan B" That goes for anything I think you should always have a Plan B
Communicate
- I think Communication is key in any situation but definitely in the work place. You definitely do not want any confrontation when there are children involved because they play off of your emotions and plus it would not make work fun.
Be Reasonable
-I think he says it best. "As teachers we hold very high expectations for our students....sometimes they live up to those expectations, and sometimes they don't. Often we build our expectations too high for students, and become upset when they do not meet the expectation"
Don't be afraid of Technology
-I think that is what Mr. Strange is trying to teach us now. But yes you have to always be one step ahead of the students which means technology is going to be very important
Listen to your students
-Your students is your classroom so you have to take what they say into consideration. Not only listening to them for help with an assignment but you need to be their friend, and that is often what small children look for in adults.
Never stop Learning
-As I said before teaching will always be a lesson learned for the teacher.


You can tell that Mr. McClung has learned a lot from teaching because four short years later he does not have as much to say of what he has learned. That does not mean he has stopped learning as he advises not to do, but simply he is on another level and is learning different things.

The two main things he says on June 13 2012 that he has learned from the previous year are:

-He means you have to remember your peers, and
Challenge Yourself
-I think challenging yourself is kind of like never stop learning. If you know "all" then you are not challenging yourself and therefor not learning.

Blog Post 8

Richard Miller

Mr. Miller says that writing can be done in a creative way. And how there will be all different ways to to get information out there for people to see, and we have to be able to teach out students how to use these. Just as now-a-days anybody can make and edit a video, there is not really any need for a videographer, music producer or photographer. It seems like anyone can these days. I do not think what Mr. Miller is talking about would apply to elementary students but maybe for middle and high schoolers, definitely!

Carly Pugh

Carly I think feels the same way that Mr. Miller does about multimedia technology. I think that she did a good job on her post and I liked the video she added at the end. I think that it is pretty neat to make the playlist and video together to show different things about you and your teaching philosophies and you can then put them into a portfolio, but I probably would not put it into a video for an employer on the internet.

Chipper series and EDM for Dummies

Not sure what I am suppose to say about the Chipper video. I believe the point is to prove school is here to better us and the teachers are not her to teach you so you do not have to learn but to teach you how to teach yourself and to learn the importance of each subject. The EDM for dummies was funny and dramatic but so are all the "Dummie" books. If you just take some time and explore all these different social networks or new technology devices  anybody can figure it out.

Learn to Change. Change to Learn

This world is always changing and technology is one of the main things that is changing and teachers need to be prepaid to teach and help their students with it. I think that teachers are relying to much on technology these days though. In my high school and even in college I have seen class canceled or the students told to do whatever they want because the teacher had only planned on a video or some sort of technology based project to take place and then either the internet went done or for some other random reason it didn't work. Teachers don't seem to be doing as much anymore. I do believe that this will keep happening and this technology trend will only progress so the only thing we can do about it is move on and keep on teaching it.

Kaechele Michael

Kaechele had made a new blog because he was not sure were he was going with his old blog. His new blog is called "In the Trenches"  but he hadn't really started his new blog.

Then on his other blog "Concrete Classroom" he writes about 1929's stock Market Crash and makes a simulator.

His blog was very confusing and I believe I had commented on both blogs but my computer also messed up so I am not even sure if the comment did submit!?

Ella 2-10-13

Ella blogged about "King Candy the 3rd" on February the 5th. I'm not sure if this was a book she had read, a story she made up or what so I asked her. She ended that the King had a fair that came to help him so I asked if the King got the good help he need.

Iyesha 2-17-13

Iyesha is a third grader in Mrs. Mckeller's class. On February 7th just 3 days after her 9th birthday. She wrote "All about my life"  and told me about her large family. So I told her I also have a big family.
